Trends of Spring and Summer – A series of fashion weeks took place in the fashion capitals, which determined the list of trends for spring and summer 2023. We tell you what the trendsetters came up with this time and show a lot of photos from fashion shows.

Romantic moods at fashion weeks

Fashion weeks in Paris, Milan, London and New York were held under the banner of romance and tenderness – such a conclusion can be drawn by looking at the trends of the upcoming season. Ruffles, lace, feathers – all this looks light and airy and reminds: spring and summer are the heyday of nature. There were, of course, more dramatic accents: emphasized sharp shoulders, python skin, patch pockets, but there is much more romance in spring-summer 2023 fashion. But the main trends were the following:

One of the most unexpected trends has been the designers’ rush to feather decor, which was seen literally everywhere: Chanel trimmed their tweed jackets with feathers, and Rick Owens fashion designers used them in the design of sandals – it looks very unexpected, especially for such a rebellious and usually daring brand.

Cutouts and cuts

Clothes with slits and cutouts in unexpected places seem to be the main symbol of the 2020s. For several seasons now, we have seen how designers get creative and create things with cutouts at the hips, chest, waist and even in the groin area, as in the Burberry collection. If you haven’t got the slit cut yet, it’s time to fix it, because this technique will be among the main trends of spring and summer 2023.

In a pair of air feathers in the upcoming season, designers have launched a trend for lace. We could not have imagined that patterned lightweight materials would return to the list of fashion trends so quickly, but the Chanel and Dior shows dispelled any doubts. Lace is officially in fashion – both as inserts and as the main fabric of things.

Translucent fabrics

The trend for translucent things will help to make the image sexy and attractive. This, of course, is not new in the list of trends – we saw similar outfits at the fashion weeks of the past year. Transparent fabrics were predicted to fade quickly, but the latest shows by Prada, Miu Miu and Valentino proved that it is too early to write them off.

Focus on the shoulders

In the autumn-winter 2022-23 season, a fresh trend appeared – an emphasis on the shoulders. Designers presented jackets and coats with massive shoulders, shirts and blouses with shoulder pads, interestingly designed knitted sweaters. Fashion house Saint Laurent decided that one season was not enough for such a bright trend and released a series of coats with accents on the shoulders. They were supported by the designers of the Junya Watanabe brand.

Manifestations of avant-garde and deconstructivism are firmly entrenched in fashionable wardrobes, so the spring-summer season will not do without asymmetrical cut clothes. It can be a one-shoulder dress like Ottolinger’s, a skirt with a patchy hem like Rokh’s, or something very unusual like a dress from Acne Studios.

Plenty of pockets

The next trend in clothes for spring and summer is an abundance of pockets. And not anyhow, but overhead, as on an elongated Louis Vuitton or Miu Miu vest. You can use the trend in more familiar manifestations – on jackets or trousers. The latter, by the way, will perfectly fit into the style of safari and military.

Python skin

The fashion for leather is no longer surprising, but python skin is another matter. Of course, none of the world brands use real python skin, but they all perfectly imitate its color, making things predatory-sexy. The animalism style for spring and summer is promoted by Khaite, Tod’s and, of course, the main fan of the animal theme – Roberto Cavalli.
