Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser Review

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser has been one of my favorite products for a while, but I’ve never had time to write a proper review until now! Unless you’ve lived under a rock, I’m sure you’ve heard of it. It is highly regarded as “the cleanser for sensitive skin“. One of my college roommates (a long, long, long time ago, before this blog even started!) once commented upon seeing the Gentle Skin Cleanser in my skincare stash: “Oh , you wear this! goes with sensitive skin!” If you are at this stage, you know that the product is quite cult among its users. It’s not just among users, however, that some of the dermatologists I’ve been with have also suggested this product to me as one of the affordable yet readily available gentle cleansers for sensitive skin, which is why I started using the product in the first place.

What is Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser?

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is a skin care creation that cleanses all skin types with its gentle, non-irritating formula. People with sensitive skin may discovery that this product works for them while others don’t. It works well to rid the skin of oil, dirt and other impurities. The best part remains that it doesn’t dry out your skin in the process. The cleanser also has a low pH that is closer to skin level. This lets it to work more effectively on your skin. Skin pH measures the acidity or alkalinity of the skin. The skin has a slightly acidic normal barrier.

How to Use Cetaphil Cleanser?

There are two ways to use Cetaphil Cleanser. One is with water and the other without. To use Cetaphil Cleanser with water, pump an appropriate amount into your hands and apply to your skin. Massage gently. Then rinse with lukewarm water and perfectly dry.

To use Cetaphil cleanser without water, pump the cleanser onto a cotton ball. Gently wipe around your face. Use a towel or cotton ball to wipe excess cleanser off your skin. You don’t need to use water for rinsing.

Using the waterless cleanser is probably best for those who travel a lot or places where water is an issue while on the go.

Can I Use Cetaphil Twice A Day?

Yes, you can use Cetaphil twice a day if you have oily skin. It keeps your skin cool and comfortable. However, if you have dry skin, it is best to take care of it once a day at most. Simply apply the cleanser gently to your face and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Dry and then do not clean again.

Can Cetaphil Cleaner be Washed Off?

No, you do not have to shower off the Cetaphil Cleanser. You can wipe it over your face with a cotton ball or a towel. It is formulated to remain gentle on the skin. So you can leave it as it is. Simply wipe off the excess afterwards. However, if you are not used to it, you can rinse it off with lukewarm water. Then dry with a towel.

It can also remain a matter of convenience. When a friend of mine traveled by train, he had a bathroom but no water.

He felt his skin getting oilier. So he wanted to wash it. He really likes this cleanser because he can apply it without washing it off. It was comfortable for him.

Why do Dermatologists Recommend Cetaphil Cleansers?

Dermatologists recommend Cetaphil cleansers because they’re non-alkaline, which is good for the skin barrier, are oil-free, and won’t clog pores. It has a moisturizing component that also keeps the moisture in the skin. This keeps your skin calm and not feeling worn out, making it one of the best skin cleansers for those with sensitive skin.

It also leveraged positive reviews from users, both individuals and influencers. The hype and praise for the user experience is the social proof we need to tell us that Cetaphil Cleanser is really worth it.

Ingredients:

Aqua, Cetyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 20, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben.

Texture, color and smell

It is a white, creamy yet gel-like cleanser with a smooth texture. It spreads easily on the skin. The smell is almost non-existent.

My opinion

I have been using this cleanser intermittently for 5 years. I usually use it in the winter as my oily skin tends to behave a little weird in the winter. Develop dry areas. It reacts poorly to strong moisturizers, while a mild one doesn’t seem to work. A creamy cleanser remains the only thing that can retain my skin healthy in the winter.

From the texture it’s really creamy and smooth, I use it as a mask when I have thirsty patches on my skin and they disappear from the first application.

Conclusion

Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser does its job well. It cleans the face without irritating it and most importantly it feels good on my skin. It’s not particularly flashy with scent, color, and texture. It’s smooth and it works. It all that matters. The handy bottles are just the right size for me to take with me when I travel. One bottle can last for months which is a great investment.

I almost had the feeling that this is the cleaner I will be looking for a long time. But I’m always willing to go new products. This marks the end of my Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser Review article. I hope this helped you get some useful ideas about what this purifier is.
