Nail Polish Write for Us

Nail Polish Write for UsNail polish, also called nail polish, is a cosmetic product composed of fast-drying lacquer, which is used to provide shine, color, and various decorative effects to the nails of the fingers and toes, as fine as to protect the nail surface. It is a complement that does not go unnoticed since the desired look will not be complete if an impeccable manicure with fashionable colors is not display.

What is Nail Polish?

Nail polish, also known as nail varnish, nail lacquer, nail paint, or nail polish, is one of the cosmetics use to beautify the hands and feet, giving color and improving the appearance of the fingernails and feet.

Enamel was introduced to the market as a nail lacquer in the 1920s. There has been less of a trend toward bare nails. So much so that there are even styles in which the nails are painted with naturally colored enamels for a more careful look without leaving the naturalness.

From very remote times in history, applying color to nails has been use in different cultures, such as the Greek, Chinese and Egyptian. Still, they were generally inks of vegetable origin, and the colors could be consider a matter of status or part of some religious customs.

Over time, nail polish formulas have changed since the beginning. Although the colors could be beautiful, they only resisted a few hours after application.

The Composition of Most Nail Polishes

Most nail polishes are made from nitrocellulose dissolved in some solvent to which pigments are add. Resins, plasticizing elements, and adhesive polymers are also often include in the mix to make them more durable and flexible, thus preventing them from quickly detaching from the nail. Although the progress in the manufacture of new formulas does not cease to amaze us both for their effectiveness and their increasingly less toxicity, most nail polishes contain, to a better or lesser extent, the following chemicals:

  • A film-forming agent (nitrocellulose): After nail polish is apply and dried, a hard, smooth, and shiny waterproof film are formed, often associated with a tint. It must be free of defects and roughness and must be able to harden and remain transparent after evaporation of the solvent. It is responsible for protecting the nail from external aggression. Nitrocellulose is the most widely use a film-forming agent. It is a dangerous product because it can spontaneously ignite in dry form, which is why it is diluted in isopropanol by at least 30%.
  • One or more resins from the petroleum industry, consisting of long polymer chains, are used for their ability to harden and “weld” various components. In addition to the film-forming agent, the resin is use to modify the film to increase its properties, such as gloss and nail adhesion.
  • One or more plasticizers optimize and modify the flexibility of the film.
  • Solvents mixed with the other ingredients to form a liquid composition easily applied with a brush. They are mainly used in varnishes such as butyl acetate (flammable liquid) and ethyl acetate.
